Sat down with the family to watch our TIVO’d American Idol episodes last night. My husband and I began comparing the amazing performances to the U2 video we watched a few weeks ago.

Now, I’m a huge U2 fan, but let’s face it, if Bono had auditioned for American Idol, his voice alone wouldn’t have gotten him through round one. Those judges are tough!

What made and still makes U2 an amazing group is passion and teamwork. the passion the four of them have had for creating great music and the passionate way they deliver the product is uncanny. What they produce as a team is far greater than what any of them could produce individually.

Some time ago I worked with a young woman on a client project. Smart, very capable. But what I discovered early on was that she had no passion. No passion for the work, for amazing the client, for going above and beyond, for knocking one out of the park for the team! A whole lot of nuttin’.

I tend to gravitate to others who have a lot of passion. These are the people I want to work side-by-side with. These are the people I want as clients. Working with passionate people is part of what gets me out of bed in the morning. Like them I say “bring it on and let’s make it better!”
